Is Cold Pressed Juice the Best for You?

August 14, 2017

Cold pressed juice is all the rage at the moment.  Generally this juice is made by pressing vegetables and fruit between metal plates.  The process is a bit messy as the pulp and juice are separated.  This method however, helps to preserve the nutritional benefits of the drink.  The result is a delicious light juice.  Much of the fiber has been pressed out so you may get hungry within a short period of time.  If you want a quick fix with a blast of energy into your system, this may be the drink for you.  Any choice you make about which healthy drink to put into your body is a wise decision.  Water remains a great option.

For those of you who need a little more fiber in your diet, consider blended drinks.  These are the smoothies that you get when you combine vegetables and fruit in the blender.  These drinks are relatively easy to make, a snap to clean up, and you get lots of natural fiber depending on your ingredients.  Because of the fiber and pulp, there is a slow release of nutrients into the blood stream.  So this type of drink will keep you full for a longer period of time.

Some people are concerned about the amount of heat in the juice production process.  Heat can reduce the nutritional value of the drink.  Blended drinks are made using heat from the blades that spin around.  The amount of heat is generally negligible and takes very little from the health benefits of the juice.  Cold pressed juice, on the other hand, is made using virtually no heat.  Doctors continue to recommend that everyone should eat more fiber.  Having a blended drink is a really good way to follow the doctor's orders.
